Final Goodbye

So, last week as I said my final goodbye to Grandma Evelyn and told her I loved her, I got to hear her tell me she loved me one last time. This year on my 40th birthday as I reflect on the last 4 decades, I am incredibly grateful to have had Grandma Evelyn in my life for 40 years. She taught me to paint and sew (or at least tried!) She told the best stories of my dad and his brothers when they were young and I loved listening to her talk about our German background. She had traced our family lineage back to Germany and knew who came to America and when! I'm proud to be her namesake (Patricia Evelyn). My children were so blessed to have known their Great Grandmother. She was so pleased when I married Lee Morton...besides being a wonderful man, she thought he looked like a soap star! She loved the Young and the Restless and the Bold and the Beautiful. You always knew what Grandma Evelyn was doing at 12:30pm during the week This Friday we will bury Grandma Evelyn next to Pop, finally together again after 20 years. Life won't be the same without her, but I can still hear her in my head and my heart.
