Evelyn was the most genuine, kind woman I have known. She had a light in her eyes that never changed. Evelyn never changed. She taught my children; she taught my grandchildren. She taught many of us at Bethel to make Chrismons, to make baskets and to make the kneelers around the altar rail. From the many years we exchanged Christmas greetings I will always cherish the collection of small beribboned mementoes that came on these cards - nativities, stars - as well as the many Chrismons made by her Sunday School classes which were so sweetly and faithfully given to so many of us - all a reminder of Evelyn's great faith. We leave something of ourselves in a place we leave behind, even as we leave. Evelyn is another chapter closed but ever open in my book of memories. And so for her "the shadows have lengthened and the evening come, the busy world hushed, the fever of life over, and her work is done".
