Matthew Peter Groover, 55, died at Prince William Hospital on Monday, August 10, 2015.

He was born on September 7, 1959, in Wetumpka, Alabama to the late Luther Buren Groover and Jean (Venable) Groover. Mr. Groover has been a resident of Bristow, Virginia for the past 10 years, but has lived in a variety of places due to his military service.

Mr. Groover married Sandra Schell on January 11, 1987 in Montgomery, Alabama. Mr. Groover was retired from the Air Force, after a career of 22 years, and continued to serve the Air Force as a contractor and civilian for the past 7 years. He was a die-hard Auburn fan, avid coffee drinker, and most importantly, a loving husband and father.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Groover of Montgomery, Alabama; daughter, Hannah Groover of Springfield, Virginia, her husband Michael Mathiowetz; his sister, Elizabeth Law of Wetumpka, Alabama; brother, Luther Groover, Jr, his wife Carolyn Groover of Tyrone, Georgia, a niece and three nephews.

Cremation has taken place in Virginia and a memorial service will be held in Wetumpka, Alabama at a later date.
