Bom-Wrapper

The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Annis Combs can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Stop it right now!

There are so many memories and stories about my grandparents, both of them, so many, I've tried for days to think of one to share, and I could fill volumes.  I will love and cherish them with all my heart until time has lost all meaning...that aside, you know their home was always full of laughter.  This is a funny story.

My brother and I lived with Nanny and Granddaddy during a sort of rough time in our lives, they never turned anyone away.  Well, we were teenagers, and I don't know how it happened, but we started saying words backwards.  I don't even know why we thought it was so funny, but it went on for months.

One day, Mike pointed and Granddaddy and announced "DAD-NARG!" which caused me to nearly lose my drink while Granddad was sort of tolerating this....not to be outdone, I pointed at the bird cage and announced, "E-GAC DRIB!" and while my brother and I were almost in hysterics with laughter, Nanny comes down the stairs, points her fingers at both of us and says, "You two stop it right now! I know you're sayin them dirty foreign words!!!"   Well, we held it together until she went back upstairs, but you can imagine how hard we laughed at that.  We finally explained what we were doing, and eventually, she thought it was funny too!

I've been so blessed to have them, to have her, all I can be is thankful for the goodness she showed us.
