The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Quentin Lawler can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

My Friend Unc

I called him Unc and he called me Cuz, not sure how that started but it was affectionate.  Unc never needed to be the center of attention and didn’t need to be talking all the time but when he did he spoke softly and it was always witty, wise or profound in a “cool” way.  Firm handshake with genuine eye contact, classic proud posture, always lean and could make a pair of jeans look the way they are supposed to at 80 something!

Chase and Marya’s kids lost their Grand Daddy Rice before he could become much of an impact on their lives.  He was such an influence on Chase and I that I know it bothers us both.  Quentin was from the same cloth as our Father so he instilled and passed along the morals, ethics, honesty,  passion, charm, respect, patriotism, Family values, loyalty and  enjoyment of the simple things in life as a good Man of that generation lived.  He didn’t preach it or force it, he just lived it with them and showed by example how a Man should be… and that is becoming rare these days.  Thank you Unc for being so involved in my Nephews rearing, your name sake Quentin and Sam are fine young Men.  Oh and thank you for passing along the “cool” to young Quentin who you were always so Proud to call “Coolio”

I will miss your humor and camaraderie at work, raising our glasses across the room to one another in recognition of friendship at a social event, trumping each other’s claims of how many different backyard birds we had at our feeders, sharing the mutual pleasure of a cracklin’ outdoor fire on a cold night at the beach house but most of all your passion for a good time no matter the company or the setting.

Farwell Unc, your Friend Jamie
