The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Rick O'Brien can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Saving lives and creating futures

I was the Area Director for the Boys & Girls Clubs. One  day Rick came into my office with his friend Augie Toturo. I could see the determination in Rick's eyes. They were both concerned about the future of the children in Manassas. I remember Rick saying that there are many latchkey kids with no place to go and taking them off the street will save their lives. Rick went on to say if we give children opportunities and positive reinforcement that they will have a good base to be great citizans.

We partnered with Rick, Augie and the rest of the Kiwanians and build the best Boys & Girls Club in the country. 3000 children came on opening day to cut the ribbon. Rick's dream can true and the children of Manassas can thank Rick O'Brien for a fun place to go. He treated all children if they were his own and gave so much to a city that he loved so much. God has smiled on Manassas by giving us his son Rick. I am grateful to call Rick my dear friend. ...........the end
