Obituary for Gregory Scott Malish Jr.

Gregory Scott Malish Jr.
Gregory Scott Malish, Jr., 18 of Manassas, Virginia, passed away suddenly on April 20th, 2017.

He was born on July 19th, 1998 in Maryland, son of Cassandra Marie Hagan of Aurora, Colorado and Gregory Scott Malish, Sr. of Irving, Texas.

Gregory impacted more lives than he knew. He had a sharp wit and dry sense of humor but a very kind and gentle soul. He was his mother’s son to the core. He loved animals and leaves behind his dog Murray, his bird Peachy, and several other animals all of which he loved dearly. Gregory loved anime, computer games, was great with all electronics and if he didn’t know something, he figured it out or researched it until he knew everything about it. The best parts of Gregory are ones that can’t be described in words. The way his eyes twinkled with sparks of genius when he figured out something that had been eluding him, or when he manipulated his mother into making him a grilled cheese sandwich because she made it “with love”. Once people got to know Gregory, they loved being around him. His non-judgmental attitude and quiet acceptance made people want to be like him…to be better people. He was far from perfect…he snored something awful, he talked back to his mother, his room was a disaster, and he made mistakes….but that’s what made him unique. That’s what made him Gregory.

Gregory is survived by his parents, Cassandra Marie Hagan of Manassas, Virginia, and Gregory Scott Malish, Sr. of Dayton, Tennessee; his step-mother Robin Malish of Dayton, Tennessee; his sister Charlotte Curran of Stockholm, Sweden; his step-brother Ray Tillman of Manassas, Virginia; his maternal grandparents Robert and Gerda Parr of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; his paternal grandparents John and Carolyn Malish of Memphis, Tennessee; his aunt and uncle Chris and Ursula Rocha of Edgewater, Maryland; and his cousins Alexandra, Christopher, and Emilia, also of Edgewater, Maryland. Gregory is also survived by a multitude of people who influenced his life, too many to list here.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, the 28th of April, 2017 at River of Grace Lutheran Church in Manassas, Virginia. Visitation will be at 10:00am and the service will be at 11:00am with a reception immediately following, all occurring at the church.
