Obituary for Ralph C. Sutherland
Ralph Clinton Sutherland, Jr., known as “Sonny” by many of his family, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, Virginia at the age of 75. He passed peacefully.
Ralph was born March 17, 1941 in Pulaski, Virginia to the late Ralph and Edith Sutherland. He resided in Fairfax County, Virginia for over 38 years.
He received a Bachelor’s degree in History and earned a Master’s and Doctorate’s degrees in History and Ministry. He was an ordained minister and served as an educator for 40 years.
Besides his parents, is preceded in death by his brother, David.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda; his son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Linda; his son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Michelle; his five grandchildren, Ian, Neil, Connor, Travis, and Caraline; his brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Corey; his brother and sister-in-law Roger and Yvonne; and his sister Hope Sutherland.
Visitation will be on Tuesday December 6, 2016 at the Baker-Post Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Rd. Manassas, VA 20110 from 12:00 noon to 1:00pm, with the funeral service to follow.
Interment will be at Stonewall Memory Gardens at 2:00pm.
