Obituary for Larry Kenneth Umstead

Larry Kenneth Umstead
Larry Kenneth Umstead died on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Fair Oaks Hospital at the age of 73. He passed peacefully surrounded by the love of his children.

Larry was born on December 23, 1942 in Sydney, Ohio to the late Kenneth & Helen Umstead .
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Loretta Davidson-Umstead; his daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Richard Knight; his grandchildren, Courtney Knight, Madeline Knight, Kenneth Davidson-Umstead, Branden Davidson-Umstead and Ashley Umstead; his brother and sister-in-law, Dr. & Mrs. Gregory Umstead and one grand-dog that he loved very much and that loved him as well, named Summer.

Larry was a single father to his two children, Kenneth and Holly. He never remarried but surrounded himself with many great friends.

He was a hardworking man who started his career in the cash register business. He owned his own business and then, went on to work at AAES and ATT, where he worked up until he retired.

Larry’s favorite place was his cabin on the Northern Neck across from the Chesapeake Bay. He spent every moment he could there and enjoyed when his children and dog joined him for a weekend of eating crabs and enjoying the view. Every weekend, you could find him either sitting on his deck enjoying the scenery or riding his John Deere tractor.

He will be greatly missed!

A memorial service will take place on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at Baker-Post Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, Virginia.

Interment will be private and at a later date.
