Life Story for Linda Marie Pletcher

Linda Marie Pletcher
Loving and caring wife, mother and neighbor.

Loved to cook and used old family recipes handed down from generation to generation.

She gave lots of parties. She prepared food for a block party we had at our beach house just the day before the accident when she fell down a flight of stairs to our garage.

When our kids were young, she was on the social activities committee at Yorkshire townhouse community in Manassas and later Sequoia Farms in Centreville where we lived for the past 39 years. While in Centreville, she worked 27 years for Giant Food before retiring. She enjoyed seeing and talking to all her neighbors at stores. For 30 years we put on a special Halloween haunted house for the neighborhood. She would help decorate, prepare food for helpers and pass out candy. Some years we had 800 kids that showed up. We were even written up in the local paper.

She loved to read. Her favorite author was Nora Roberts. When she got a new book she would read cover to cover non-stop. While she was in the hospital we downloaded audio books for her to listen to.

Over our 45 years of marriage we had two kids and one grandson. Our first born passed away in 1997 at the young age of nineteen from an auto accident.

We had three dogs and inherited a fourth. She loved them all but I think her favorite was the one our son brought home in his jacket, a pug she named Lucy. She said Lucy was a Velcro dog, always sat with her in her chair and went to bed with her.

She loved to go to the ocean at Rehoboth Beach. We have a condo on the boardwalk and a house 1.5 miles inland. We had been going there before we were married. Our second child was almost born there. We would take the kids to Fun Land next door to the condo and she would play skee ball and boom ball for hours. I still have boxes of stuffed animals she won in the attic. Her favorite breakfast was cream chipped beef on toast at the Royal Treat.

We had special neighbors at the beach house where we all got together for hors d’oeuvres and drinks almost nightly. Weather permitting, we would sit on the front porch, back porch or on our new patio with a stained glass fire pit she just had to have. They would take us out on their pontoon boat on the bay.
