On the afternoon of July 8, 2016, Marta passed away after battling cancer for a year; while being attended by family and the nursing staff of hospice in her home in Manassas, VA at the time of her passing. Marta was 51 years old.
Marta was born August 1, 1964 in Cojutepeque, EL Salvador and moved to the states where she resided for the last 20 plus years. She was the youngest of 8 children by Juan and Rosa Aparicio.
Marta gave birth to two daughters Yeny and Xiomara who were also raised in El Salvador. Having taken the opportunity, Marta came to the states searching for more opportunities for her children. Through her hard work and determination, Marta was able to build her empire by achieving what most fail, which is to open a successful business which she had solely ran for the last 20 years.
Marta will be remembered by most for her loving and happy spirit. Her sister Berta said "Marta was a great sister and a great person who was always giving and will always be remembered with love". Others who have had the privilege of knowing this lovely woman will always remember that she was the life of family gatherings and would always drag someone out of their seats to dance. When she announced that she was going to cook, then you could rest assure that everyone who heard will battle the DC traffic just to come and enjoy her delicious cooking.
Although Marta had many moments that she was extremely proud of and would share those moments with others in a heartbeat, one moment that she cherishes was the day she became a US citizen. She is a true example of what it is meant to be a citizen in the land of possibilities.
