William Dean Gray, age 73, died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, April 24, 2016.

Born on April 27, 1942, in Missouri, William grew up in California and was raised by his mother Leta Gray. He survived his only sibling, Robert Colbeck.

He joined the Air Force out of high school and served 9 years of active duty. He later joined and retired from the Army National Guard. He was also a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for 20 years where he also retired.

The Air Force brought him to Quantico where he met his first wife, Barbara Anne Geris. The two were married on his birthday, April 27, 1963 leading him to say he got the "best birthday present ever." The couple adopted four children; Bruce, Brandi, Belynda, and Bryce. They were very active foster parents. He was widowed by Barbara in 1999.

William was an active volunteer. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus where he led an outreach program for the local nursing homes. He also gave countless hours to the Red Cross and various Cancer foundations.

Later in life he remarried Geneva Glacier. He was also widowed by Gigi, and he remarried a third time to Constance Sorrell but they divorced in 2015.

Besides his brother, Bob, William is survived by his grandchildren; Elijah Gray, Jenna Gray, Ashley and John Michael Woodyard and a goddaughter, Sarah Scott. He also leaves behind three nieces to whom he was very close to; Dawn Pleet, Cheryl Simpson, and Jackie Scott.

The family will receive visitors on Saturday, April 30, 2016, from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, Virginia. A memorial service will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Rudy Tucker, Jr. officiating.

Interment will be private and at a later date.
