Obituary for Roy Stanley Daswell
Roy Stanley Daswell (fondly known as Sticky, Bredda Roy, Mas’ Roy, Dazzy); born in Portland, Jamaica on August 1, 1932, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 with his family by his side.
At the blessed age of 83, he is survived by his beloved wife, Daisy Daswell; his children, Clive Perkins, Everton Daswell, Sydmund Daswell, St. Anthony Daswell, Erica Etienne, Denise Floyd, Elizabeth Lambert and Rakesha Boothe; 18 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Alfred, Henry, Rober, and Denton Harris; sisters, Joyce Smith, Ceta Hutchinson, Verna Steward, Beryl Hamilton, Mavis Harris, Lena Bishop and Charlene Harris; and other loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cordia Daswell; brother, Jumpy Harris and sisters, Myrtle and Molly Harris.
A patient and humble soul loved by many. Roy was a man of little words but plenty action. His hard work and dedication continuously motivated those who were lucky enough to cross his path.
As a qualified Electrician, Roy spent much of his life in Jamaica mastering his trade, training and mentoring his many apprentices who are all successful self-employed electricians today. He was highly recognized and rewarded for his skills and knowledge in his field. His death deprives us of one of the most accomplished electricians.
Roy accepted Christ as his personal savior and was a member of the Duhaney Park Gospel Assembly Church. He truly loved the Lord and continued to praise God even as his strength faded away.
Roy’s kind nature and giving spirit was unlike any other. His charismatic personality was simply addictive. His entire life, right to the very end, bore testimony to his strength and determination to withstand adversities in life no matter the circumstance. This is a lesson that will live forever through his children and his hard work.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, October 2, 2015 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, Virginia. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home chapel beginning at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Todd Tennant officiating.
Interment will follow the service at Stonewall Memory Gardens in Manassas, Virginia.
