Emlyn Harley  Kline
Emlyn Harley Kline, 87, of Manassas, Virginia, passed away July 20, 2015 at the Bridgewater Retirement Village.

Born in Manassas, Virginia, on April 8, 1928, he was the son of Wilmer and Nora Harley Kline. On April 12, 1953 in Washington, D.C., he married Vera Louise Compton.

A lifelong resident of Manassas, Mr. Kline was a dairy farmer, and devoted member of the Manassas Church of the Brethren. After World War II ended, he was one of the Seagoing Cowboys that delivered cattle to war-torn Europe. In the early 1950’s he volunteered with Brethren Volunteer Service and spent several years in Greece. He traveled to China in 1975 on an agricultural tour when that country opened up to western tourists. He was a member and served on the Board of the Soil and Water Conservation District of Prince William County for many years. He was elected as a member of the Board of Trustees for Bridgewater College in 1985. In 2000, he became a Life Trustee of the college. He was an avid pilot (receiving his license at the age of 16) and a downhill skier. He graduated from Virginia Tech and loved spending time with his extended family and friends.

Those who survive him are his loving wife Vera, their four children, Michael Kline and his wife Charlene of Madison County; Kathy Kline-Miller and her husband David of Pennsylvania; Ruth Mickelberry and her husband David also of Madison County; Christa Harrell and her husband Louis of Alexandria; three siblings, Wilma Robertson and her husband Jesse of Bridgewater; Leon Kline and his wife Georgia of Manassas; Sylvia Bowman and her husband Jim also of Bridgewater; seven grandchildren, Michael, Jason, Hannah, Taylor, Kinsey, Sarah, and Caroline; and one great-grandchild, Isabella.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 24, 2015 from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. at the Manassas Church of the Brethren, 10047 Nokesville Road Manassas, VA 20110. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary with Rev. Dr. Christopher Bowman officiating.

Interment will immediately follow in Cannon Branch Cemetery, Manassas, Virginia.

Memorial contributions may take the form of a donation to the Manassas Church of the Brethren, 10047 Nokesville Road, Manassas, Virginia 20110.
