Obituary for Stephen V. Iannucci

Stephen V. Iannucci, former Deputy Assistant Director of the U. S. Secret Service (retired), passed away on Friday, October 12th, 2012 of cancer at his home in Centreville, VA. He was 69.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Thursday, October 18th, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Lucy’s Church, Newark, NJ following the funeral at 9:30 a.m. from the Megaro Memorial Home, 503 Union Ave., Belleville, NJ.

Visitation is Wednesday, October 17th, 2012, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Steve graduated from Barringer High School, Newark, NJ, and Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ; and received his M.E. from Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ. He began his career in 1966 joining the Newark Police Dept. and was quickly promoted to detective and assigned to the bandit squad. In 1976 he joined the United States Secret Service where he served for 22 years. He was assigned to the New York Field Office, the Vice-Presidential Protective Division and various headquarter assignments. Most recently Steve was a Deputy Assistant Commissioner for the U.S. Customs and border Protection.

Steve is survived by his wife Dorothy; son Stephen and daughter Alexandra; son-in-law Josh Gilmore; grandchildren, Liam, Gavin, and Gracie Gilmore. He was preceded in death by his mother, Antoinette Iannucci; his father, Vito Iannucci; brother Joseph and sister Anne. He will be missed dearly by his loving family, cousins, and good friends.
