Obituary for Richard Ripley Peterson

Richard Ripley Peterson
Richard Ripley Peterson, 78, of Bristow, VA, passed away at home on January 25, 2018, after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, Sally, and his children, Elizabeth and Thomas.

He was born in Chicago, IL and attended Northern Illinois University. Richard served for 35 years as a Foreign Service Officer for the US Department of State, during which time he was posted to locations that included Bermuda, the UK, Mexico, and the Philippines. His kindness and wonderful sense of humor made him friends wherever he traveled and will be so missed by his loved ones. In retirement, he honed his cooking skills and explored his love of technology while never giving up the travel bug.

A Celebration of Life is planned for later this year. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins, where he received excellent care during his illness.
