Obituary for Roy Samuel Craig, Jr.

Roy Samuel  Craig, Jr.
Roy Samuel Craig, Jr., 79, of Fairfax Station, passed away at home, surrounded by his family, to be with Jesus on December 16, 2017.

Roy was born in Charlottesville, Virginia on December 26, 1937 to Roy and Alecia Craig. He grew up working on several farms with his parents and siblings.

Roy Samuel Craig, Jr. is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sylvia Craig; three children, Rob Craig and his wife Deborah, Nina Jean and her husband John, and April Craig; two sisters Jane Craig and Ruth Cornwell and her husband Robert; five grandchildren, Julia Craig, Mason Craig, Brian Craig, Rachel Jean, and Lindsey Jean.

A proud veteran, Roy served in the United States Navy 1958-1962. He was a great provider for his family, working as an electronic technician for the United States Government for 34 years. After retirement from the Federal Government, Roy never stopped learning. He also enjoyed spending vacations at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Roy was a man of Christ with a true servant heart who cared deeply about and for others. Roy was an acknowledged donor of blood and platelets for many years. He always helped people and looked out for everyone he met. He was talented in so many areas including mechanics, electronics, computers and technology. He could fix anything and used his vast knowledge and skill to help friends, neighbors, church, and family. A role model to his family and friends, he lived a God-centered life. Roy’s favorite saying was “One day at a time, Sweet Jesus.”

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas. A celebration of life will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Baird officiating.

Interment will immediately follow in Stonewall Memory Gardens, 12004 Lee Highway, Manassas.

Memorial contributions may take the form of a donation to the ALS Association, DC/MD/VA Chapter, In Memory of Roy Samuel Craig, Jr., 7507 Standish Place Rockville, MD 20855.
