Obituary for Josephine Mildred Zentmeyer

Josephine Mildred Zentmeyer
The life of Josephine (Josie) M. Zentmeyer will be celebrated by family and friends at Bethel Lutheran Church, on Plantation Lane in Manassas, VA on December 4th, 2017, at 11:00am, where she was a member. Josie, a devoted wife and mother, passed on November 23rd after a long battle with illness. She was born Josephine M Stauffer on March 12th, 1930, in Harrisburg, PA and later married Jack C. Zentmeyer (deceased), also of Harrisburg. They lived various places: Bristol, VA, Owego, Saugerties, and Apalachin, NY, and later settled in Manassas, VA. In her last years she resided with her daughter, Pamela, in Manassas.

She was well-loved and her greatest enjoyment was being with her family. Barbeques, family dinners, gatherings at holidays (especially Christmas, her favorite) were always big events that she so looked forward to hosting with her husband at their home. Her pastimes were knitting, working puzzles, shopping, and keeping up with world events. Always opinionated, loving, and fiercely devoted to her family and God is how she’ll be remembered.

She is survived by her three children: Pamela Larnerd (of Manassas, VA), Jack Zentmeyer and partner Ashley Parlier (of Davidson, NC), and Dean Zentmeyer and fiancé Sheila Crabtree Norris (of Madison Heights, VA), her grandchildren: Aaron Larnerd and fiancé Leia Simms, Nathan Larnerd (of Manassas, VA), Mike Zentmeyer (of Charlotte, NC), Amanda Zentmeyer-Knoepp, husband David and their children David and Ellie (of Forest, VA), and Jessie Zentmeyer and partner Daniel Piscitelli (of Fayetteville, NC).

After the church service, a small grave-side gathering will take place where she’ll be buried alongside her husband at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA.
