Obituary for James "Jim" Dick Sr.

James "Jim" Dick Sr.
James “Jim” Dick, Sr. passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017. Born in the District of Columbia on May 20th 1944, he was the son of late John Lohr and Neva Henderson Dick.

Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Jo Marshall of Manassas, VA. He is also survived by his children; son James “Jamie” Dick, Jr of Manassas, VA and daughter and son-in-law Maryanne and Jason Dwyer of Bristow, VA, his grandson; Logan Dwyer, three furry grand pups Reese, Brutus, and Sheba, and by his siblings; sister Ann Edmondson of North Myrtle Beach, SC and brother Donnie Dick of Falls Church, VA. He was preceded by his brother Mitchell Dick of McLean, VA.

Jim grew up and lived in Arlington, VA until he moved to Manassas in 1973. He went to East Carolina in NC until he was drafted for the Vietnam War. Upon his return, after finishing up at George Mason, Jim had a long career in the real estate industry as a commercial loan officer. He had a passion for politics and was a former planning commissioner for the City of Manassas. His biggest joys were his family especially his beloved grandson, Logan, and his dogs, especially Jack. He loved the beach, “Oldies” music, history, and antiquing. He loved to travel. He was a big jokester and many times the life of the party. He was a person that would help in any way that he could.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 21st, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, VA 20110.
