Obituary for Betty Jane VanGorder
Betty Jane VanGorder, age 85, of Bristow, VA and formerly of State College, PA, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.
Born October 2, 1931 in Monaca, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Everett and Una Faye (Nulton) Gallagher.
Betty was a telephone operator and later a homemaker. She was also a dedicated Penn State Football fan. Betty loved line and square dancing and was active with the Center-Squares until 2011. She enjoyed travelling and was always up for an adventure. She loved spending time with family and friends.
She is predeceased by her husband, William Chester (Chet) VanGorder; her six brothers, Harold Nulton, William Henry, Carl Edward, Raymond H., John Russell, Donald Lee; and four sisters, Margaret L., Lois, Ruth and Gladys Mae.
She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey VanGorder (Cindy) of Potomac Falls, VA, Randy VanGorder (Pat) of Bristow, VA, and daughter Joyce VanGorder of St. Johns, FL. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren Olivia, Sabrina, and Cassandra (Potomac Falls, VA), and Kelsey, Nicole and Richard (Bristow, VA).
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 7 at McLean Bible Church - Loudoun Campus, 44180 Riverside Pkwy, Lansdowne, Virginia, where there will be a visitation from 1:00-2:00 PM.
Interment will be private and at a later date.
