Obituary for Justiniano De Mesa Oteyza

Justiniano De Mesa Oteyza
Justiniano De Mesa Oteyza, affectionately known as “Nonong,” was born to Manuel & Arsenia Oteyza on June 30, 1940 in Manila, Philippines. After a trying battle with illness, Nonong fell asleep in death on Saturday, November 26, 2016.

He was raised in Manila with 12 siblings and received a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He married his loving and supportive wife of 50 years, Zenaida (Zeny) De la Cruz, on December 17, 1966. Together, they bore six children; Chinky, Alexander, Jaime, Helen, Maricar and Zarina.

By encouragement and support of his siblings, Nonong moved to the United States in 1976 to provide a better life for his family. He settled in Herndon, VA and supported his family as a Customs Broker for over 40 years. His children fondly remember his passion for the Redskins and his evening ritual of playing Solitaire on his bed. He also enjoyed being gathered with friends and family, especially at parties to dance the night away with his favorite dance partner, Zeny.

He is survived by his dear wife, Zeny, four children; Alex (Shannon), Jaime (Amy), Helen (Christian) & Zarina (Billy), eight grandchildren; Justin, Audriana, Dallas, Mikal, Markos, Jameson (JD), Addison (Addi) & Ashley (Peanut), and three siblings; Benito, Ludilina & Ross.

He will be remembered as a good and protective father, loving husband and for living a life in the way he enjoyed; laughing with friends and family.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at Saint Theresa Catholic Church, 21370 St. Theresa Lane, Ashburn, Virginia. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m.

Interment will be private and at a later date.
