Margaret Ann (Pixie) Doyne, 58, of Linden, VA passed away on August 31st, 2016 in Manassas, VA.

She was born on October 9, 1957 in Kingston, New York; She was the daughter of the late Robert James and Patricia Ann Doyne. At the age of 17, Margaret and three of her four siblings: Robert (Bobby), Richard (Dickie) and Carin relocated with their parents to Margate, Florida.

Margaret attended FAU where she earned a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Education. In 1985 she was hired by Broward County School Board to teach kindergarten at Coconut Creek Elementary School. At the end of the year she transferred to Atlantic West Elementary (AWE). Soon after her transfer Margaret realized older children were her calling, she moved to fifth grade. Her studentsfound her to be tough, kind and fair. Each year her biggest dilemma was class size reduction. She NEVER wanted to give up any of her students. After 17 years at AWE it was time for another change. She moved to Park Trails Elementary where she taught for three years before making a big change and moving to Manassas, VA. She taught fifth at George Mullins Elementary from 2004 to the present. In addition teaching at Mullins she was active on many school committees, including PTO, Effective School Wide Discipline and numerous academic committees. Margaret gave freely of her time to support Mullins family events and was a mentor to many students.

Her commitment to children started in high school where she was recognized for working with children diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Margaret’s love of learning didn’t end with her Masters Degree. Throughout the years she attended numerous in-service classes and took courses to expand her knowledge and augment her teaching. As a teacher she took part in any program that would benefit students. She served on school committee such as Southern Association of Schools, volunteered to be the faculty representative for PTA, directed the yearly fifth grade play and sponsored the student safety patrol. She served as team leader numerous times and was always willing to mentor colleagues and share ideas to facilitate a positive learning environment. Equally as important, she was supportive of school administration, staff, and parents. She didn’t view herself as a complex person. She loved reading, was concerned about the welfare of her students, and enjoyed the beauty and simplicity of nature. She was a devoted and compassionate educator whose goal was to assist children in reaching their full potential by building their self esteem and making them life-long learners.

She is survived by her siblings; Ronald (Skip) Doyne of Saugerties New York, Robert (Bobby) Doyne of Palm Bay Florida, Richard (Dickie) Doyne of Kissimmee, Florida and Carin Lentz of Avon Park, Florida; 5 Nephew's, Robby, Michael, Joshua, Nicholas and Noah; 3 Nieces, Tova, Charyn and Candice as well as many, many wonderful friends. She also leaves behind many students and a wonderful staff at Mullins Elementary school.
Mullins Elementary has dedicated the school library in memory of Margaret.
