Obituary for Luca Vincent Florio

Luca Vincent Florio became one of God’s special angels on July 30, 2016—after a courageous and hard-fought battle with Mitochondrial Disease. Luca is survived by his parents, Chris and Nicole Florio (Fredericksburg, VA); maternal grandparents Luciano and Joanne D’aria (Richmond, VA); paternal grandparents Louis Florio (Fredericksburg, VA) and Francis Zeets (Culpeper, VA); and uncles Michael D’aria (Boston, MA), Matthew D’aria (Richmond, VA), and Steve Taylor (Fredericksburg, VA). Luca’s beautiful light was first seen when he entered this world on June 18, 2013, and he was a constant ray of sunshine and source of happiness from the very beginning. His bright demeanor and loving smile will be missed by the many family members and friends he leaves behind. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 5, 2016, at Saint William of York Catholic Church—3130 Jefferson Davis Highway, Stafford, VA. The burial will follow at Dumfries Cemetery, which is located at 17821 Mine Road, Dumfries, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Luca’s Legacy Golf Tournament—with all proceeds going towards the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation in Luca’s memory.
