Sylvia Irene  Detwiler
Sylvia Irene Richey Detwiler, age 82, went to be with our Lord on July 11, 2016.

Born in Centreville, Virginia on February 27, 1934, she was the youngest child of the late William and Pearl Richey. Upon graduation from high school, she went to work for the government at the Navy Annex then transferred to the Pentagon. She was an active member of St. Marks United Methodist Church for many years. She was also an avid reader and loved to travel. Aside from all of these things she loved to do, she will be remembered most for being a wonderful caregiver to her family.

Besides her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her sister, Ruby Stewart, and her brothers, Ralph, Hugh, Ed, Herman, Aubrey and Elmer Richey.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Alfred; daughter, Karen; grandchildren, Jason and his wife Whitney, Shannon and her husband Adam; great-grandchildren, Allie, Ethan, Dylan and Emma; numerous nieces and nephews, and Clarence Jones, who has been like a son.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 15, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, Virginia. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dr. Jack Martin officiating.

Interment will immediately follow at Valley View Cemetery in Nokesville, Virginia.
