Obituary for Dorothy Floretta Lane

Dorothy F. Lane (Dottie), passed away Thursday morning, May 5, 2016 at her home in Manassas VA.
Ms. Lane is predeceased by her husband, WWII Veteran Robert E. Lane, Sr., Daughter, Linda E. Lane, and is survived by her Daughter, Diane Lane of Berthoud, Colorado, Son, Bobby Lane and wife Pauline of Manassas; two Grandsons, Robert Lane III and Sean Lane, and one Granddaughter, Crystal Lane.
Dorothy was born in Omaha, Neb., the daughter of Edward and Ida Mathewson, and moved to Manassas in 1960. Dorothy was a crossing guard and police officer for the Manassas Park Police Department during the early 1960’s, a member of the Red Hat Society (Dogwood Dollies), helped start up the Ostomy Society in Northern Virginia, and was associated with the Stonewall Jackson Fire Department since inception.
Dorothy loved her family, grandchildren and friends, and especially loved spending time in her second home at Colonial Beach.
A memorial service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held Monday, May 16, at 11:00 a.m. at Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, VA, with Rev. Dee Swinney officiating.
Interment will be private.
