Colonel Richard “Red” Charles Yezzi, Retired, United States Marine Corp.

November 17, 1932 – November 11, 2014

Richard Charles Yezzi, 81, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 11th 2014 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Red, as he was known by his friends was born November 17th, 1932, in Erie, PA to the late Raymond and Anna Yezzi of Erie, PA.

Brother, father, husband, and grandfather he will be missed and is survived by his sister, Marce Myers; three children, Richard T. Yezzi, Cheri Kendall, John Yezzi, their mother, Betty Brenner and seven grandchildren; Richard E. Yezzi, Kristen Yezzi, Cody Kendall, Amanda Kendall, Alex Yezzi, Josh Yezzi, and Jake Yezzi. His wife of 24 years Bonnie Yezzi, her three daughters, Holly Mays, Heidi Able, Heather Faust and six grandchildren.

As a first generation American, with the pride of his Italian heritage, Red was the first member of his family to attend and graduate from Edinboro State College. He earned many honors for his athletic endeavors and it was there too that his career with the US Marine Corp began.

The family of Richard Yezzi would like to express how honored we all are to have had Red in our lives and will miss him greatly.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to celebrate his life. The family will receive friends on December 6th, from 2:00p.m. - 4:00p.m., at the Baker Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, VA 20110.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Red’s name to the Wounded Warriors Foundation.
