Zygimantas Zalys, 32, of Woodbridge, passed away July 16th, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family, friends and colleagues, after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

Born March 1, 1977 in Klaipeda, Lithuania, he was the son of Vytautas Zalys and Olga Roscenkova Zaliene. On February 22nd, 2003 in Alexandria, Virginia, he married the former Jansen Lorraine Robinson, who survives.

Known to his family and friends as “Z”, he has served for almost three years on the Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Fire Dept. (OWL Stations 2 and 14), and since 2007, he has served with the City of Manassas Department of Fire and Rescue. Z was also a member of the International Association of Firefighters.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 6 years, Jansen Zalys of Woodbridge; one son, Braedan A. Zalys of Woodbridge; his parents, Vytautas Zalys and Olga Zaliene of Lithuania; and one brother Bart Zalys of Lithuania.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 24th, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Rd. Manassas. A Celebration of Z’s life will be held on Saturday, July 25th, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 9750 Wellington Rd. Manassas, with Pastor Tim Perrin and The Rev. Rudy Tucker, Jr. officiating.
